LEBANON’S ROLE IN SYRIA’S CAPTAGON TRADE

On 25 March, an article from the Global Initiative Against Transnational Organised Crime says that Syria plays a central role in the global trade in Captagon, an illegal and highly addictive amphetamine.  It says that Syria’s centrality in the trade is to a significant degree linked to another actor – the Lebanese militant group Hezbollah.  To fully understand the dynamics of Syria’s involvement in the trade, one must examine its relationship with Lebanon.
