COMPLIANCE ETC: THINGS YOU MAY HAVE MISSED – MAY 22

Went for a “ride” today on a simulator, built by a Belgian guy living here in Panama. It involved a flight through the skyscrapers of Panama City and under the Bridge of the Americas over the Canal. Quite a ride!

Challenges to 5 recently elected deputies from Panama City could affect the installation of the new National Assembly on 1 July. The candidate for the Realizing Goals (RM) party – that of the President-elect- challenged the result in the 8-4 circuit, where 5 seats were disputed. It is said that this might be a ruse to seek greater control of the Assembly, where the RM party would be in a minority. It appears that if the disputes are not decided before 1 July, when the first legislative period begins, both the Vamos coalition of independents and the MOCA party would have fewer deputies, which would affect them in the voting process to elect the new board of directors of the National Assembly.
