The start of the “New Business” money laundering case, in which the defendants include former President Martinelli has been delayed. Due to open today, it will now start on 23 May. The delay is seemingly because of further appeals from the defence – one calling for the recusal of the judge, and the other over some evidence ruled inadmissible.
Meanwhile, it is reported that more than 40 people seeking to enter Panama through cruise ships have been denied entry due to various crimes committed in other countries. So far this cruise season, some 200,000 people have arrived as passengers and crew.
