The recent census has revealed someone who may be the oldest person in the world. Mercedes Chami Dogirama was born in 1898. She and her family live in the Darién Province. Apparently, she celebrated her 125th birthday in March. Preliminary data from the National Institute of Statistics and Census (INEC) also says that a man in the province of Colón is 118, and a 116-year-old woman lives in the province of Veraguas.
