It is reported that the World Bank estimates that Panama will grow 5.7% this year, whereas that for Latin America and the Caribbean would be 1.4%.
In other news, following the stand-off over the huge copper mine, the Minister of Commerce and Industry (Mici) has announced that the Government plans to create a mining authority. In addition, it is planned to reform the Mining Code that dates back to 1963.
