EU PARLIAMENT APPROVES SIXTH AML DIRECTIVE AND STRICTER RULES TO COMBAT MONEY LAUNDERING AND TERRORIST FINANCING

On 3 April, Coingeek reported that the vote in the EU Parliament imposes a €1,000 cap on anonymous digital asset transactions, approved a new EU AML authority, and a ban on citizenship by investment—the so-called “golden” passports and visas.  3 measures were approved, including what would become the 6th Money Laundering Directive and an EU Regulation establishing the European Anti-Money Laundering Authority (AMLA), which will have supervisory and investigative powers to ensure compliance with AML/CFT requirements.
