COMPLIANCE ETC: THINGS YOU MAY HAVE MISSED – APRIL 2

During the first 3 months of 2023, 87,390 migrants crossed the Darien jungle, a figure is 7 times higher than in the same period last year. Last year, 13,796 were recorded making the journey. People from  Venezuela predominate, followed by Haiti, Ecuador, China, India, Chile, Colombia, Brazil, Afghanistan, Cameroon, Somalia, and Peru. In March, 30,929 adults and 7,170 minors crossed the Darién.

In other news, Policia Nacional reported that in the first 3months of 2023, at least 806 firearms have been seized, together with 26,594 rounds of ammunition of various calibres. 365 were pistols, 166 revolvers, 52 shotguns and 3 AK-47 rifles. In March alone, 190 weapons were seized.
