So far in 2023, 789 cases of dengue have been confirmed nationwide, with 4 cases described as “severe” but no fatalities. With the rainy season due to begin in the next few weeks, this is when the numbers of mosquitos usually explodes. The health ministry has reiterated the call to the population to maintain cleanliness in homes and work environments, check the meshes (“bug screens”) of doors and windows, etc.
There seems to be some confusion over whether or not the Norwegian Cruise Line will continue to offer cruises using Panama City and Colón as home ports. I was on the first Norwegian cruise to use the new cruise terminal at Panama City, which is so handy for us, and I personally would be sad to see its use end so soon. Both sides seem to agree that cruises will continue until the end of December 2024.
