COMPLIANCE ETC: THINGS YOU MAY HAVE MISSED – FEBRUARY 12

As well as the various viruses etc going around, and the African “killer bees”, let’s not forget about H5N1 avian flu. News come from Veraguas Province that 1,500 “backyard birds” have had to be slaughtered due to an outbreak. It is said to have been detected in birds in communities of difficult access to the north of the province, to prevent the virus from reaching other regions. It is probably also worth remembering that Panama is also a major transit zone for migratory birds, as well as having an abundant resident population (for example, 30 types of hummingbirds, and as many parrot species, alone).
