On 16 December, the EU Sanctions blog reported that the EU had adopted a new package of sanctions measures, which it details in the post. At the same time, the EU also designated 174 individuals and entities, including heads of Russian regions, Russian military and special forces, family members of Russian oligarchs; daughters of the head of Chechnya, Russian political parties; and introduced a new derogation, allowing member states to unfreeze the assets of and to make funds and economic resources available to individuals playing a significant role in the international trade of agricultural and food products, including fertilisers and wheat.
