CONCERN THAT RUSSIA IS STRIPPING NEIGHBOURS’ HOME-APPLIANCE IMPORTS FOR ARMS

On 29 October, Time reported that a sudden and surprising spike in European exports of washing machines, refrigerators and even electric breast pumps to Russia’s neighbours is raising concerns among officials the trade boom may be helping the war machine in Ukraine. There is concern that Russian companies may break up the appliances and use components and semiconductors found in civilian manufacturing.
