On 31 October, The Peninsula reported that, on 31 October, Canada announced fresh sanctions against Iran, targeting police and judicial officials over what Ottawa described as rights violations at home and abroad – including a violent crackdown on demonstrations sparked by the death of Mahsa Amini. The sanctions list includes a police commander, the deputy attorney general and its police force, as well as officials in North Khorasan and Mazandaran provinces. Al-Mustafa International University was also named.
