On 17 September, The Times reported that Prime Minister Liz Truss’s most senior adviser, Mark Fullbrook the Downing Street chief of staff, has been interviewed by FBI agents about an alleged criminal plot to bribe an American politician and influence a US election.  It is reported that he said to have been involved in an alleged conspiracy to subvert the democracy of Puerto Rico.  Meanwhile, on 14 September, the Byline Times reported that 2 powerful Conservative Party pressure groups with extensive financial ties to Liz Truss’ Cabinet have institutional and funding links to the pro-Trump Mercer Family Foundation – billionaire philanthropists credited with being among Donald Trump’s biggest financial backers, and who have funded a range of far-right groups in the US.

On 6 September, the ICAEW reported that the IFAC Action Plan for Fighting Corruption and Economic Crime outlines the global profession’s approach to fighting corruption, working across all sectors.  It says that it welcomes the Action Plan.
