US STATE DEPARTMENT DESIGNATES FORMER PARAGUAYAN PRESIDENT DUE TO ALLEGED CORRUPTION AND TERRORISM TIES

On 22 July, the Wall Street Journal reported that the US State Department had designated former Paraguayan President Horacio Cartes for his role in “significant corruption”.  The designation will prevent Cartes, who ruled Paraguay from 2013 to 2018, from entering the US.
