HUMANITARIAN EXEMPTIONS IN UN SANCTIONS REGIMES

In March, the United Nations University Centre for Policy Research published a Policy Memo to define humanitarian exemptions as they exist under UN sanctions; clarify some areas of confusion surrounding the notion of “humanitarian exemption”; provide impartial humanitarian aid actors with a descriptive analysis of the existing UN exemptions and discuss; and outline some of the advantages and limitations of the current models.
