On 4 February, the Guardian carried an article telling the story of the submersible, as Agustín Álvarez, a 31-year-old former Spanish amateur boxing champion, and his 2 crewmates were jailed for 11 years each for sailing the craft carrying 3,068 kg of cocaine across the Atlantic.  4 Spaniards who conspired with Álvarez to help guide the sub ashore were jailed for between 7 and 9 years.  The craft was a 21.5 metre-long fibreglass boat and sailed from Brazil to Spain, has before being scuttled in a Galician cove in November 2019.

On 4 February, a news release from Jersey advised that Revenue Jersey has opened a consultation on proposals to change the way it works with partnerships and their partners. It outlines the proposed administrative changes as a result of the implementation of legislation to extend the Economic Substance requirements to partnerships. The consultation closes on 31 March.

EU Regulation 2022/149/EU has amended EU Regulation 101/2011 to insert a new Article 2a as regards the conditions upon which the funds of a deceased person can continue to be frozen (with necessary amendments to cater for it).

EU Regulation 2022/148/EU amended EU Regulation 753/2001 to provide for an exemption for the making available of funds or economic resources necessary to ensure the timely delivery of humanitarian assistance and other activities that support basic human needs in Afghanistan or to support such activities.  This follows the adoption of UN Security Council Resolution 2615.
