UK: SLAPP – FREE PRESS CRUSHED BY LAWFARE

On 23 January, Joshua Rosenberg posted about a debate in the House of Commons about the use, and misuse, of SLAPP – Strategic Litigation Against Public Participation. Such lawsuits are based on laws on defamation, privacy, data protection and harassment, and are being used by law firms against reporters and others to deter inquiry and by rich individuals and organisations to destroy their critics and opponents.
