Panama Covid-19 update – active cases have risen again, but by only 32 to 3,110. 208 new cases have been reported but no fatalities. 14 patients are in ICU and 96 in other wards.

SUPERYACHT INDUSTRY BOOMS DURING COVID PANDEMIC

On 12 December, the Observer reported that, according to figures revealed in the latest edition of Boat International’s Global Order Book, more than 1,200 superyachts are slated to be built – a rise of 25% on last year.

NEW RULES ON UK ARMS TRADE MAKE IT ‘EASIER’ TO SIDELINE HUMAN RIGHTS

On 12 December, The Observer reported that experts fear new rules for the arms trade will make it easier to ignore human rights concerns when deciding whether to allow international sales of UK-made weapons; and the criteria applied could also make it harder for critics to challenge any deal in court.

IRAN: 110 COMBAT SPEEDBOATS DELIVERED TO IRGC NAVY

On 12 December, Eurasia Review reported that the Islamic Revolution Guards Corps (IRGC) Navy has taken delivery of 110 missile-launching speedboats in a ceremony held in Iran’s southern port city of Bandar Abbas.  The the 110 Ashura-class speedboats are local designs, are highly manoeuvrable and can fire missiles and rockets.
