UK ADDS 3 NAMES TO LIBYA SANCTIONS LIST

On 13 May, a Notice from HM Treasury advised that 3 names had been added to the Libya sanctions list – Mohamed AL– KANI, Abdurahem AL KANI, and AL-KANIYAT.  At the same time, the entry relating to Aisha Muammar Muhammed Abu Minyar QADHAFI has been amended.

UK SANCTIONS LIBYAN AL-KANIYAT MILITIA AND ITS LEADERS – STATEMENT

On 13 May, Yahoo News reported that the UK had imposed sanctions against Libya’s Kaniyat militia, saying those who breached international law in Libya would have to face consequences.  It said the Kaniyat militia had overseen a 5-year reign of terror until 2020, torturing and murdering innocent people.  Last year, the US designated the militia.
