THE MOZAMBIQUE CHANNEL – TROUBLED WATERS?

On 7 May, an article from the International Institute for Strategic Studies says that the insurgency in northern Mozambique has reinforced a number of concerns about maritime security in the Mozambique Channel, a key transit route for maritime traffic in the arm of the Indian Ocean.  It says that local maritime-security capacity is already limited and the insurgency has highlighted a need to improve maritime domain awareness in the region.  It highlights a need to improve maritime domain awareness and bolster maritime capacity-building efforts in the region.
