FORMER MEXICAN DEFENCE MINISTER ARRESTED IN US AT DEA REQUEST

On 15 October, the Wall Street Journal reported that Mexico’s former defence minister has been arrested by US authorities at the request of the DEA, the latest in a string of former high-ranking officials linked to drug corruption.  General Salvador Cienfuegos served as defence minister from 2012 to 2018 in President Enrique Peña Nieto‘s administration and was arrested upon arrival at Los Angeles International Airport.
