On 4 September, the UK Customs Academy put out this 1-hour, free video webinar on You Tube. The Academy says that transit procedures will become increasingly important for companies looking to streamline their customs processes post-transition. By using Union (formerly “Community Transit”) and Common Transit, businesses can move their goods quicker to EU countries and Common Transit countries because declarations and duties are not required at each border crossing, and firms can complete some of the required customs processes away from the border. This webinar describes how Transit works, its benefits and how firms can apply and use it compliantly. Note: The common transit procedure is used for the movement of goods between the EU Member States, EFTA countries (Iceland, Norway, Liechtenstein and Switzerland), Turkey, North Macedonia and Serbia. The operation of the Common Transit procedure to include the UK was ensured under a 2019 agreement (unless something goes horribly wrong, perhaps…)
