OFAC: EXAMINATION OF 4 RECENT FAQ FOR IRAN SECTOR-BASED SANCTIONS

On 9 June, an article from Arent Fox said that 4 new FAQ – 830 to 833 – issued on 5 June provide a few surprises in its clarifications of the sector-based sanctions contained in January’s Iran-related Executive Order 13902. They are said to confirm earlier guidance and provide detailed but mostly unremarkable definitions of the 4 sectors of the Iranian economy, as well as the goods and services used in connection with those sectors, that are targeted by EO 13902, and the meanings of the terms “knowingly” and “significant”.
