THE US STATE DEPARTMENT TRAVEL BAN ON CUBAN OFFICIALS RUNNING CUBA’S OVERSEAS MEDICAL MISSIONS PROGRAMME

On 2nd October, the EU Sanctions Blog reported that the US State Department has imposed a travel ban on Cuban officials who run Cuba’s overseas medical missions programme, claiming that programme coerces, endangers, and exploits its own practitioners.  The allegations include requiring long work hours without rest, meagre wages, unsafe housing, and restricted movement, with passports withheld and some doctors monitored outside of work.
