US UNHAPPY WITH SOUTH AFRICA DECISION TO EXTRADITE EX-FINANCE MINISTER BACK TO MOZAMBIQUE

On 23rd May, IOL in South Africa reported that the US on Wednesday expressed disappointment with the decision to send home former Mozambique finance minister Manuel Chang to face corruption charges.  He had been held on an Interpol Red Notice from the US since December.  Chang is accused of carrying out a $2 billion fraud in a money laundering scheme “that took advantage of the US financial system and defrauded US investors”.
