CFTC IN US INVESTIGATES GLENCORE FOR POTENTIALLY CORRUPT PRACTICES

On 25th April, the US Commodity Futures Trading Commission reported that Glencore, a British-Swiss commodities trading and mining firm that its organization and its subsidiaries are under investigation for violations of the Commodity Exchange Act (CEA) and CFTC rules.  This probe is in conjunction with an ongoing investigation by the DoJ.  The CFTC describes Glencore as one of the world’s largest global diversified natural resource companies and a major producer and marketer of more than 90 commodities.  The Group’s operations comprise around 150 mining and metallurgical sites, oil production assets and agricultural facilities.
