IRAN “REVIVING MARITIME SMUGGLING ROUTE TO SYRIA USING CIVILIAN FIRMS”

i24 on 12th March reported claims that sanctions Iranian companies with ties to the Revolutionary Guards Corps, have recently begun unloading shipments at Syria’s Latakia port raising suspicions that the dormant maritime trade route is being revived and may be exploited for weapons smuggling.  Photos are said to show tractors produced by the Iranian Tractor Manufacturing Company (ITM) – a company with ties to the IRGC – being unloaded.  It says that the company was added to the US sanctions list after being identified as belonging to the extensive network of the Basij force, a paramilitary arm of the Islamic Revolutionary Guards Corps.
