CANADA: PROPOSED REGULATIONS FOR CANNABIS EDIBLES ETC

On 21st December, Gowling WLG published a briefing saying that the Canadian Cannabis Act currently authorises the legal sale of dried cannabis, cannabis oil, fresh cannabis, cannabis plants and cannabis plant seeds. In furtherance of its public policy objectives respecting cannabis legalisation, the federal government has announced proposed legislative changes to allow for the sale of 3 additional classes of cannabis – including edible (or drinkable) products containing cannabis; and products containing cannabis as an ingredient that are intended to be used on external body surfaces, including skin, hair, and nails.
